With Grade 12 Mentors

On December 6, I had a dinner with Grade 12 students, they were Tannie and Sherry. At 7 o’ clock, I arrived at the Mexico restaurant ‘Salsa’. There are many people, except Grade 12 students, the rest are Irene, Beryl, Doris, Charles, and Bryan, Iverson, Joyce and me.
Salsa was on the Dan Feng Street, it was on the opposite of a big shopping center. The restaurant is from Mexico, we voted for it, because most of us liked the food from Mexico. We liked the taste and the style. There are different kinds of food; I ordered a cup of coffee, a cup of ice cream and a dish of special pizza. I could not eat much at night, so that was enough. The food I ordered all looked very delicious.
I chose to drink the coffee first, it tasted very nice, I never drank the coffee from Mexico before, so I thought the coffee was different, it much more better than other coffee. I liked the taste. Then I ate the pizza, it was cut into four pieces. It was special, it did not have cheese, fruit, even onion, and it just had meat, bread and few pieces of vegetable. The pizza was so simple; its shape was strange, too! But the pizza tasted very tasty! The ice cream was cold, I didn’t think it was better than other ice cream, but it wasn’t so terrible. In all, I liked the food, because it gave me a different feeling and it tasted not bad.
The restaurant was small, but there were many people coming here, I thought they came here not only because the food was delicious but also because of the environment, the environment was harmony, there were many natural and interesting pictures in the restaurant, the chairs and desks were exquisite, the shopkeeper always played soft music for us, the restaurant was very clean, too! I liked the environment. In the restaurant, I even met the teachers from my school, but they didn’t teach in GCA, I also saw many lovers. The service in there was very good, too! The shopkeeper was very kind and thoughtful. I thought that was a good night. I will recommend other people to come to Salsa to enjoy Mexican food!

Go to Exhibition with Ms.hadley's class

On November 4, we go to an Exhibition with Ms. Hadley’s class, it was Wu Weishan Culture Figures Sculpture Gallery of Nanjing Museum, and it was in Nanjing University. The museum was not very large, but the artworks were classical and special, all the artworks in the museum were made by a famous artist --Wu Weishan. I took many photos with the artworks, I listened to the worker in the museum very carefully and I read the introduction of each artwork very carefully.
I thought ‘The Sleeping Child’ was the most interesting artwork. The artist used round shapes, but the surface was not smooth, so some shapes were sharp. The colors of the artwork were almost bronze, but some places, the colors were darker. The artist used soft lines to describe the child, but some corners, lines were sharp, it would be easier for us to understand the artwork because the lines were balanced. The texture of the artwork was soft, because it was made by clay. The subject of the artwork was the behavior of sleeping. I saw the shape of ‘The Sleeping Child’, the child had two small eyes, the eyes were closed, his hair was short and less, his face was elliptical. I saw his mouth was open, the behavior was very lovely! His lips were thin, they were pretty. I seemed to see the imagination and harmony of the artwork, I saw the love of the family, and I saw a lovely child.
I thought ‘The Sleeping Child’ was the most interesting artwork not only because of the appearance of the artwork, but also because the artwork made me feel harmony and quiet, because the subject was a baby, the baby’s expression was serene, the baby was so quiet and lovely, the behavior of sleeping was natural, it made me feel relaxed.
‘The Sleeping Baby’ describes a baby’s naturalness and purity, the baby’s behavior and expression are described carefully, just like real ones. The artwork is realistic, it is easy to accept. The artwork reminds me of my childhood, when I was a baby, I also lay on my mother’s lap, I would fall asleep with songs that my mother sang, I might have slept just like the artwork, it was beatific.
The artwork relates to other ideas by the behavior of sleeping, everyone will sleep, but different postures give people different feelings. By the baby’s posture and expression, people think about childhood and other things, it makes the artwork relate to other ideas. The artist’s intention is to arouse people’s memory of childhood; he wants people to be pure and carefree. The artwork had so many meaningful ideas, so I thought it was the most interesting artwork.
I liked the exhibition, because many artworks reminded my childhood, especially ‘The Sleeping Baby’, I thought of much happiness of my childhood. So I thought the exhibition was realistic, I could accept it more easily, I liked the exhibition. I found the exhibition was exciting, because all the artworks were life-like, I could understand the theme of each artwork, and so I could find much fun, I was happy to go to the exhibition.
